Food Recipe: Chocolate Dipped Strawberries by Brian

Hello loyal listeners, Brian Phan here for a special Valentine's Day recipe you might want to try to wow your loved one this Valentine's Day.

We all know girls love chocolate and enjoy getting that big heart-shaped box of chocolates and a nice bouquet of flowers on Valentine's Day.

I'm gonna share a recipe with you that is super simple, easy on the wallet, and will wow that lady you want to impress.

Chocolate Dipped Strawberries:

Things You'll Need:
  • A dozen strawberries
  • A 1lb of either melting chocolate or chocolate chips
    (choose chocolate to taste you can use semi-sweet/milk/dark or even white chocolate)
  • Microwave safe bowl 
  • Plastic Wrap

Go ahead and pick out your strawberries at a market or farmer's market if you are lucky enough to be in an area where strawberries are locally grown, such as in Los Angeles.

When picking out strawberries, remember they should look bright, juicy and appealing. Any indication of bruising means your strawberries are already going downhill.


Place the bag of chocolate chips in your microwave safe bowl and cover the bowl in plastic wrap.
Place in your microwave heating the chocolate in 30 second intervals at power level 50.

The important thing here is to not nuke your chocolate as it can easily be burned in a microwave and once it is burnt, it will be ruined.

After each 30 second interval, inspect the bowl of chocolate chips and stir vigorously to check the consistency.

Even though some of the chips will appear to still keep their form, with a little stirring the chocolate chips will melt apart on contact.

In general it should take about 2-3, 30 second cycles in the microwave for the chocolate to melt completely.

Once the chocolate is melted. Simply hold the strawberries from their stems (the green leafy tops) and completely dip the strawberry in the chocolate. The chocolate should be pretty much a liquid consistency.

Place the chocolate dipped strawberries on a cookie sheet topped with parchment paper or plastic wrap and allow them to cool.

Store the strawberries in your refrigerator until you are ready to serve them.

Voila you have chocolate dipped strawberries, and trust me doing it yourself is practically 50% cheaper than buying them at a store, plus your lady friend will be so impressed you did it yourself.

Another alternative is to also use Maraschino Cherries (you can find these in your canned fruit aisles at your supermarkets/grocery stores) and dip those in chocolate with a fork or slotted spoon. You can also use the melted chocolate and a heat source to do a simple chocolate fondue for dessert on Valentine's Day.
